Today you will learn about the best man that ever lived. We already know that the prophets were the best from all the people. But our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was the best from all the prophets. He was the most special person chosen by Allah.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) is the best and his story is also the best from all the prophets! By reading his story, we will learn how the best person ever lived!

Rebuilding the Ka’bah

Since Allāh created the Earth, the Ka’bah has been built 5 times.

It was first built by Ādam (ʿalayhi s-salām) who was told by Allāh.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) says: “Allāh sent the angel Jibrāīl (ʿalayhi s-salām) to Prophet Ādam (ʿalayhi s-salām) to tell him to build the Ka’bah. When Ādam (ʿalayhi s-salām) finished building the Ka’bah, he got told to go around it. Allah told him that he was the first man and this was the first house that was built to worship Allah.”

In the time of Nūḥ (ʿalayhi s-salām), when all the bad people were flooded, there was nothing left of Ka’bah. It had been washed away by the flood.

When Ibrāhīm (ʿalayhi s-salām) came to Makkah, he was told to build the Ka’bah again for the second time. Because there were no signs of the Ka’bah left, the angel Jibrāīl (ʿalayhi s-salām) came and showed him where to build the Ka’bah. Ibrāhīm (ʿalayhi s-salām) and Ismail (ʿalayhi s-salām) both built the Ka’bah again.

The Third Time

The third time when the Ka’bah was built was when our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) was 35 years old.

The Ka’bah had become very old and weak. When it would rain, water would go inside it. The Ka’bah was crumbling down.

When the Quraysh and the people of Makkah saw this, they all got together and planned to break the Ka’bah and build it again.

When everyone had agreed, Abu Wahb who was one of the uncles of our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) stood up. He told everyone that only good money should be used to build the Ka’bah. He told them that they should not use money which they had got from doing bad things.

Everyone Takes Part

All the people of Makkah loved the Ka’bah very much. They all respected it and looked after it.

To make sure that no one was left out when rebuilding the Ka’bah, all the families were given different jobs and different parts of the Ka’bah to build.

Breaking the Ka’bah

The time had now come to break the old building of the Ka’bah. No one was brave enough to do it. Everyone was scared because it was the house of Allah. They all thought that Allah would become angry.

Finally, a person called Walid stood up. He said, “O Allah, we only want to do something good and nothing bad.” He said this and started breaking the Ka’bah.

The people were scared that something might happen. So they decided to wait until the next day. They wanted to see if anything bad would happen to Walid. They wanted to see if he got punished. If he got punished, then they would make the Ka’bah like how it was before.

In the morning, they saw that nothing had happened to Walid. He was safe and happy. They all knew that Allah was not angry with them and started to help Walid break the Ka’bah.

They started digging and digging. They saw the same place on which Ibrāhīm (ʿalayhi s-salām) had built the Ka’bah.

When they started digging again, they suddenly heard a loud noise. They all knew that this was the where Ibrāhīm (ʿalayhi s-salām) had built the old Ka’bah.

They stopped digging and started building the Ka’bah.

Hajar-e-Aswad

Hajar-e-Aswad is also known as The Black Stone.

The Hajar-e-Aswad is a stone from Jannah given to Ibrāhīm (ʿalayhi s-salām) to put in the corner of the Ka’bah.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) says, “When the Black Stone came from Jannah, it was whiter than milk, but because humans did a lot of bad things it turned black.”

A lot of the prophets, our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) and so many millions of other people have kissed the Hajar-e-Aswad.

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) said, “Whoever kisses the Hajar-e-Aswad, the Hajar-e-Aswad will help that person in the Hereafter.”

Whenever we go to Makkah, we should always try to kiss the Hajar-e-Aswad.

The Fight

When the people of Makkah had finished building the Ka’bah, it was now time to put the Hajar-e-Aswad in the corner of the Ka’bah.

They all started arguing. They all wanted to be the ones who put the Hajar-e-Aswad in the corner of the Ka’bah. This carried on for 4 or 5 days.

There was an old person in Makkah called Abu Umayyah. He gave everyone an idea. He said tomorrow morning, the first person that comes through the gate, should decide what will happen.

The next day, all the people came and waited to see who was the first person to walk through the gate.

The first person was our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam)!

As soon as the people saw that it was our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam), they all became very happy. They said he is the trustworthy one and we are happy with whatever he tells us.

The Amazing Idea

Our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) asked the people to bring a big cloth. He put the Hajar-e-Aswad in the middle of the cloth. He then told the leaders of the all the families to hold a piece of the cloth.

They all carried the cloth to the corner of the Ka’bah where the stone had to be put. When they all reached there, our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) himself put the Hajar-e-Aswad in its place.

Everyone was happy and the argument ended. This was how our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) had stopped a big fight from happening. This is how clever our Prophet Muhammad (ṣallāllāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) is!
